Low-GWP Refrigerant Mandates Force Compressor Requalification
The Kigali Amendment schedule and the US EPA AIM Act phase down high-GWP refrigerants including R404A and R410A on fixed national timelines, pushing compressor manufacturers to requalify scroll and screw platforms for R32, R454B, and R290 charges within a compressed engineering window. The European Union's revised F-gas Regulation accelerates the same shift, banning certain high-GWP charges in new commercial refrigeration equipment from 2025 onward. Manufacturers unable to certify flammable low-GWP platforms on schedule risk losing bid eligibility on new supermarket and cold storage contracts across the European Union and parts of North America within two to three years.
Market Impact: Adds 9,000 new installations annual
