Retailer Policy Moves Faster Than Any Regulation
Supermarket groups have removed PVC cling from own-label ranges and from in-store food preparation ahead of any legal requirement, acting on plasticiser migration concerns and reputational exposure rather than on a ban. That policy route moves considerably faster than legislation and reaches whole product ranges at once. PVC still holds around 38% of professional kitchen use, which is where retailer influence does not reach. Converters watching legislation are watching the slower signal by a considerable margin. Retailer commitments give roughly two years of warning. Very few track them systematically. Most watch the legislation.
