Certified Compostability Becomes Standard Procurement Requirement
Brand procurement teams are increasingly requiring recognized third-party compostability certification before adopting biodegradable resins for packaging applications, treating verified testing data as a purchasing requirement rather than a marketing claim. Producers have expanded certification testing and documentation capability significantly over the past two years, and packaging procurement committees increasingly specify certified resins by default in new supplier contracts. Major consumer brands report certified compostable resins now representing roughly three in five new packaging material contracts, up sharply from a small base several years ago across most large retail and foodservice channels nationwide.
